The spooky season for 2024 has officially arrived - and a festive carnival has rolled into Tianshu! Join in frighteningly festive contests, events, and games to celebrate the season. Participation will earn you bi and gift boxes depending on the event. winning contests will bring in even greater rewards!

Treat Giftbag
A gacha box which has a chance to drop seasonal familiar items, seasonal familiars, bi, or (very very rarely) special seasonal aesthetic items.

Off to one side of the carnival, you spot a large, dilapidated booth. Leaning against the front on an aging piece of wood, is a messy, scribbled sign: DIY POTIONS. Sitting on a display in front of the booth is a bubbling cauldron and 9 ingredients. A suspicious shiji with a raspy voice lurks in the shadows of the booth and invites you to choose three ingredients and add them to the cauldron. "If you get something good, perhaps I'll reward you," it whispers. Something tells you, however, that you probably are not going to get "something good." Will you gamble with fate and brew your own potion?

Choose a shiji of your own (or an NPC) and write a short story (or create a simple art piece) about which ingredients your shiji chose.
Writing submissions should be a minimum of 250 words. You must state which three ingredients you choose at the top of the submission.
Art submissions should be colored, thigh-up, and include the three ingredients and cauldron. They do not need to include a background or shading.
You may enter two times.
Note: Different combinations will result in different rewards. When a "winning" combination is found, future entries using that combination will not yield the same reward.
Terrifying Transformation
After that "DIY" potion ordeal, your shiji isn't feeling so good... They feel their fur shift as they start to transform! Draw some art or create a moodboard showing what spooky transformation overtook your Shiji after embibing their potion.
Art should be full body and colored, but can include chibis and does not need to include a background. When submitting to the event gallery, you must also select the Terrifying Transformation prompt to earn your reward. You may enter two times. Each entry will earn a treat giftbag, but staff may award additional rewards depending on the effort put into the submission.
Gourd Vibes Only
Share a real life photo of a pumpkin or gourd you've carved, painted, or otherwise decorated. If you have no access to gourds where you are, you can use a melon instead! Please include a notecard or piece of paper with the current year (2024) in the photo. When submitting to the event gallery, you must also select the Gourd Vibes Only prompt to earn your reward. You may enter one time. Each entry will earn a treat giftbag.
Haunted Boos Hunt
Our yearly scavenger hunt is back! This year explore the carnival (website) to find various "Boos" (Ghosts). Each Boo will earn you 3 bi - and once you've found them all, you can submit a screenshot showing that you've found all the Boos to receive a basket of lavish treats.

Bad Apple Bob
Walking around the carnival, you pass a booth with a large, round tub filled with... Apples? At least, they appear to be apples by shape and size, but they seem to be every color and shade - with many looking to be rather dark and unappealing. A mischievious shiji sits in the booth beside a sign that reads "Bob's Every Flavored Apples." 'Bob' informs you gleefully that every apple is a different flavor and that if you choose one and describe the flavor to him, he'll give you a prize based on which apple you chose. As you reach in to grab one, he swats your hand away. "No hands, feet, or tails," he says with a laugh.
Choose a shiji and write a short story (or create a simple art piece) showing your shiji bobbing for an apple of their choice. You must describe or depict the flavor of the apple in some way!

Love to cook? Feeling spooky? Create a spooky dinner, snack, or baked good to celebrate the season! All entries will receive a treat giftbag, then during the final week of October users can also vote on their favorites. The winner (or winners, in case of a tie) will receive a special prize! Take a photo of your creation including notecard or piece of paper with the current year (2024) and "Shiji-Long Submission" in the photo. You may enter two times. You have until October 27th (11:59PM GMT) to submit your entry. Community voting will take place in a special gallery from October 29th - November 3rd. Two community-vote winners will be chosen. Additional prizes may be awarded at staff discretion.
Spook-tacular Crafts
Baking isn't your style? That's okay! If you have a 'crafting' hobby, craft something spooky to share with us. It could be knit, sculpted, casted, sewn... Whatever your hobby is - but it has to be something you made! All entries will receive a treat giftbag, then during the final week of October users can also vote on their favorites. The winner (or winners, in case of a tie) will receive a special prize! Take a photo of your creation including notecard or piece of paper with the current year (2024) and "Shiji-Long Submission" in the photo. You may enter two times. You have until October 27th (11:59PM GMT) to submit your entry. Community voting will take place from October 28th - November 1st. Two community vote winners will be chosen. Additional prizes may be awarded at staff discretion.
Spooky Create-A-Trait
This year we are holding a very special create a trait event! Your task is to create a new trait for the Shiji-Long species, but the catch is that the trait should be "spooky" themed! It does not explicitly have to be "scary" but should be tied to halloween or halloween themes in some way. Please keep in mind the existing traits when designing new traits to make sure your idea does not already exist!
Guidelines:
You may enter two traits in total.
You may only enter regular shiji-long traits (no subspecies-specific traits).
Traits need to be illustrated with a sketch and have a one-line description.
Traits should not change the overall appearance of the species - for example, you should not add additional limbs or body parts, or change anatomy to other species (for example: no feline face, no hooves, etc).
You may design special traits.
You do not need a Shiji-Long to enter.
Winners:
You have until October 27th (11:59PM GMT) to submit your entry. Community voting will take place from October 29th - November 1st. Three community-vote winners will be chosen, but staff may select additional winners as well. All winners will have their traits become official and will receive a basket of lavish treats.
