Nestled on the far east side of the tropical islands is a cove that is hidden away from most visitors by thick tropical foliage. This secluded cove has soft white sandy shores and a cluster of tide pools that are filled with various sea life when the tide is low. Low hanging coconut trees bracket the edge of the bay keeping it ever further sheltered from prying eyes. The water that breaches into the bay is crystal clear as it is fairly shallow even at high tide. This sheltered bay along with the cold breeze and toasty sands make this a paradise for ocean loving shiji.
Most notable is the cove's namesake, its heart shape that’s only seen when the tide is out. The small opening for the crux of the heart is where the cove leads out to the open ocean, at the far end of the bay. The swells keep its shape with the push and pull from the tides' constant movement and the tide pools. The heart narrows to the bottom point where the path leads down from the tropical foliage.
This small shoal is most sought after but rarely found by shiji long couples that wish to visit to make their soul bound promise to their beloved partners. The Couples Cove, while difficult to find, has seen many a soul bound mates proclaim their wishes to their significant partner in the quiet hours of the morning sunrise, to forever be with their soul mate and to make their intentions be known to just their sweet someone that their scales should be exchanged and the blessings of the elders to be sought out. It is one of the most romantic avenues in a lot of shijis’ eyes. Even at night when the sun has set the cove has an opening in the trees that is even heart shaped which makes it perfect for stargazing.
Flora is also plentiful, such as tall bushy palms of all kinds, birds of paradise with their majestic leaves, and huge monsters vining their way through other plants and tree trunks. These plants guard the small path leading down the cove, before opening up to the bay itself. Small patches of thick beach grass border the beach, leaving a thick strip of soft sand all along the border of the heart's shape, perfect to bask in the sun or pick out little shells. Tiny crabs and sand pipers can often be seen scurrying along the water's edge looking for food. Even the occasional young raveri will be found basking on the sands just at the opening of the cove.
Another activity that draws other shiji are the tide pools. When the waters are low the tide pools hold all sorts of small creatures to behold. Crabs, sea urchins, small fish, snails, sea stars and conches often get stranded in these tide pools for a portion of the day. As such shiji couples will also spend the low tide time scouring for the perfect shells and to marvel at the plethora of fauna twirling and scuttling about in the small tide pools.
