Kaelith, or Kae as most know her by, is a gentle and nurturing Shiji.  She is cheerful and open with all who stop in at her shop and mobile stall.  She welcomes everyone with a smile and kind heart.  She is wise and knowledgeable, holding secrets from the time of the Elder Wars on how to carve stones into powerful and useful gems.  She is then able to take those gems and use them to craft weapons and decor.  She is known for sharing this craft with others, taking in other apprentice artisans and showing them the craft of gem carving.  No one would guess a bubbly, smiling friend would hold a secret much darker than her rainbow gem stone carving merchandise.

There are two sides to every coin however.

By night, the bright Shiji, dims her lights and dons an attire of hooded cloaks and dark clothing.  Lilith the Shattered Star, is notorious in the Nightblade circles.  Taking jobs for the highest bidder, usually skirting on the side of the Elders, but if a high enough job appears she can be swayed.  Lilith is the quiet inevitability that strikes without warning. Patient, calculating, and precise, she moves through the world like a wisp of smoke, unseen and untouchable. Her loyalty is measured, her trust earned with difficulty; few ever glimpse the Shiji behind the blade.  Death is her craft, as exacting as the carving of a gem.  Every strike deliberate, every movement an art form. Though she has walked the darkness for centuries, Lilith is not mindless cruelty; she sees the world in facets, understanding that survival, balance, and necessity often outweigh mercy. Legends whisper her name with fear and awe.  Some call her a ghost, others a shadow, but all know that to cross Lilith is to invite a silence that cannot be undone.  Her weapon of choice?  Daggers, carved by a renowned Gem Carver.  Lilith will never take a job that requires killing innocents, that is a moral stance she will not waiver on.

Alignment 

Highest Bidder, generally those who support the Elders but could be swayed to Zhousi if the money was high enough.  Unless found out that Kaelith IS Lilith, she likely would never willingly become corrupted.

Backstory/History

Kaelith was born before the Elder Wars and grew without a care in the world. 

As a young adult, the wars began and she fought alongside the Elders against the last faction, using her Earth magic to help the cause.   Being several centuries old, Kae has seen friends and family live, die and reincarnate.  She is still around, refusing to die, but still spry for her age.  The time from the wars to now are a blur for her.  During those years she apprenticed with the best Gem Carvers the world has ever seen, becoming an expert herself and teaching the new cycles and generations.  It was actually a Gem Carver she apprenticed under that brought her into the Nightblade world.  He trained her and taught her everything he knew about being an effective assassin, though the main goal is kill the target, don’t get killed yourself. 

As the years went on, Kaelith put her skills in carving to good use and harvested gems and opened up her traveling cart.  She would go from city and town through Shengdao carving anything asked of her.  Her specialty was gems used in weapons and magic imbuement.  She also has a love of taking gems and carving them into weapons themselves like dagger blades, sword hilts, bow risers, and more.  She herself has two black opal daggers that “Lilith” uses. 

Kaelith has never found her soulmate, nor has she ever searched for them.  She wouldn’t ignore it if she ever did find them, but actively searching them out is not on her to do list.  She has of course had one off relationships in her past, and may have resulted in children of her own along the way.  She is not picky on her partners genders or subtypes. 

Location

Kaelith has lived all over Shengdao over the years, but currently resides in Sun Valley where her quaint shop is open to the public.  Living in Dawn Cloud Mountains, gives her easy access to the Crystalline Maze which ends in Gemstone Hollow.  She harvests most of her gems from this location.  When her other work takes her out of the city, she has a small homely cart with a simple bed and her wares.  She can carve anywhere, so usually will harvest the raw gems on her travels.
