When Summer is Just a Memory
Leaning back as the last of the sun faded over the ovean's swell, Qianzhi smiled down to the small sparkler in her hand. She had no idea what would happen when Ahmed had handed her the weird stick, but he'd simply flicked a claw and it had errupted with probably the most beautiful light she'd ever seen. Sparks trickled down from the firework to her leg, harmlessly skittering over her glowing cracks. In this light, it was almost like her body wasn't errupting with magic, but instead the light that reflected off her scales.
"Qianzhi! You had better not get any sort of ash on that outfit!" Kioshi scolded her from his position in the sangs, sunglasses will on and a bored look on his face. He wore a nearly matching kimono, his perhaps a little looser, sheerer, and bluer than the one he'd made for Qianzhi. Ahmed rested nearby, tucked within the third outfit the other had made (and so long it looked as if it was made of the missing pieces of Kioshi and Qianzhi's- he'd insisted on staying covered). They certainly looked quite the set.
"Leave her alone." The stoic male rumbled to their fashion focused friend, and he scoffed.
"I slave over a hot sewing machine just for you to get a sparkler so she gets ash on it. Or worse! Do you know what fire does to silk?"
"Do you know what salt water does?" Ahmed responded, cracking open an eye. Kioshi tittered in annoyance, arms folded over his chest as he huffed.
"Neanderthal."
Qianzhi laughed and sput the sprinkler lightly in the air, once more focusing on the way the bright tricks of light disappeared into the ocean's salty night air.
